VLCC Ubtan Face Pack Review : Turmeric, Oatmeal, Rose

VLCC is a personal care brand famous for its skincare, hair care and fitness products in India. In today's post I am sharing my review on their ubtan mask with turmeric, oatmeal and rose.

Usage of ubtan has been there since ages for removing dead skin cell layers and achieving a clear flawless complexion. Normally in Indian households gram flour ubtan is predominantly used for gentle cleansing of the skin.

Packaging-

The ubtan comes in a white and orange tub packaging. The brand has not provided any spatula to scoop out the product.

Texture and consistency-

The texture of the ubtan is creamy. It does not feel excessively gritty on the skin making it a gentle cleanser for face and body.

My experience with the product-

I do love a good ubtan for my face and body. Earlier in my teens I used to make a mixture of rice and gram flour to use as a ubtan and it worked really well for me.

With an increase in workload, preparing one for myself and preserving them has now become very difficult for me.

Sometimes I feel really lazy and tired to go through the preparation for myself. At moments like these it's easier to reach out to my beauty cabinet to find something ready made that can help me out for achieving the desired results.

Vlcc ubtan mask can be used on the face and body without any difficulties. It can be used as a wash off face mask too. You just need to apply the desired amount of product on the moistened face and body, massage it for sometime, leave for five minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water. Application of a good moisturiser and body lotion is must for retaining the moisture in the skin.

The ubtan has a fresh scent and contains natural ingredients like turmeric, oatmeal, saffron, chickpea flour and rose.

  • Kaolin helps in removing excess sebum and dirt from the skin making it clear and soft.

  • Chickpea powder helps in calming inflammation and reduces acne formation. Chickpeas contains magnesium and zinc which helps in preventing fine lines, wrinkles and improves elasticity of the skin.

  • Turmeric contains curcumin which has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It also helps in reducing dark spots and acne on the skin.

  • Oatmeal helps in mild and gentle exfoliation of the skin. It also helps in nourishing and moisturising the skin of the face and body.

  • Rose water has been known for its soothing and calming properties.

  • Saffron has anti-inflammatory qualities and it also helps in brightening the skin while reducing hyperpigmentation.

  • Indian bearberry powder acts as a natural cleanser and helps in removing dead skin cell layers, dark spots, freckles etc.

  • Milk powder works as a gentle exfoliating cleanser. It contains lactic acid (alpha hydroxy acid- AHA) which smoothens the skin. It also helps in preventing blackheads and whiteheads adding a nice glow to the skin.

  • Olive oil and almond oil provides nourishment and moisturisation to the skin.

I am not a big fan of the preservatives that are used in this ubtan but as this product contains a lot of natural ingredients, good preservation is necessary otherwise they can go bad overtime and that is a thing which no one wants.

Imagine opening your expensive ubtan mask and finding microbial growth in it. 🙄

Overall it is a decent product to incorporate in your skincare and body care routine.

Pros-

  • Contains rose, turmeric and oatmeal.

  • Gentle on the skin.

  • Can be used as a mild face and body scrub or as a wash off face mask.

  • Scent is not overpowering for me (it can be for you if you don't like scented products).

  • Leaves skin fresh and smooth.

  • Easily available.

  • Affordable.

  • Travel friendly.

Cons-

  • Contains methylisothiazolinone and DMDM hydantoin as preservatives which can be irritating for sensitive skin types.

  • Product does not come with a spatula.

  • You have to mix the product nicely every time before usage as the cream base gets separated by the liquid ingredients.

Will I repurchase it?

Yes!! It's a decent ubtan and it lasted a long time for me. I've not experienced any adverse reactions or side effects on my skin after using this product. Still I feel that preparing your own fresh facial ubtan works better. If you can do it for yourself that's the best option.

Note- Always do a patch test before trying out any new product.

Skincare is subjective so choose wisely.
